Inspector Nakamori corners Isao Shinjo, who is disguised as Kid, at the fountain. Inspector Megure spots the real Kid flying through the air, and Nakamori realizes he had the wrong person.
Kid lures the police cars and uses their lights to create runway lights on the pier. The plane piloted by Ran lands there.

Kogoro, who was arrested on suspicion of being an accomplice of Kid, is taken to the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Headquarters. Inspector Megure and his team visit to take custody of Kogoro, who was wrongfully arrested.
Due to Kid’s scheme, the cargo hold of the plane carrying the “Sunflowers” explodes. The aircraft narrowly avoids crashing into the terminal.
The Detective Boys visit the art museum to view "Sunflowers." Around the same time, Kogoro and the others arrive after receiving a notice from Kid. In the story, the museum appears under its former name: Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Museum of Art.
"Sunflowers" are recovered through a deal with Kid. The location is believed to be modeled after the “Toto Plaza Hotel” featured in the story.
