“Detective Conan: The Crimson Love Letter” is a Japanese-style mystery set across Osaka and Kyoto, centered around the Hyakunin Isshu and competitive karuta. Set against a backdrop of classical culture, the film interweaves modern tournament venues, shrines and temples, and cityscapes, allowing viewers to experience both tradition and the urban atmosphere simultaneously. The relationships between Heiji Hattori, Kazuha Toyama, and Momiji Ooka are major highlights, with the romantic drama adding a touch of glamour to the film. This emotionally rich theatrical release lets you savor the beauty of Japanese culture, the intensity of competitive karuta, and the unfolding of romance all at once.
The highlights are divided between Osaka's Kyobashi area, Kyoto Arashiyama, Omi Jingu in Shiga, and Nunobiki Kannon in Nagano. Viewing them on a map makes the distance between each area easier to understand.
In Osaka, you can sense the tension of the story's beginning; at Togetsukyo Bridge and Omi Jingu, the afterglow of karuta and love poetry; and at Nunobiki Kannon, the quiet of a mountain temple.

YTV Kyobashi Building, Kyobashi Minami Pedestrian Bridge, and Hotel New Otani Osaka are close together. If you are mainly walking around the area, a half-day visit is manageable.
Togetsukyo Bridge and Omi Jingu are in Kyoto and Shiga, but they can be connected by public transportation. During busy seasons, allow extra travel time.
Nunobiki Kannon Shakusonji is in Komoro, Nagano, some distance from Kyoto and Osaka. It is more realistic to plan it on a separate day.
